In a world that moves at an increasingly fast rate, individual therapy offers a space to slow down and engage in the kind of reflection that is hard to come by in day-to-day life.
This is not a passive activity. Reflection is vital to our human nature and our ability to grow. In therapy, I help create the space for you to drop below the distractions and begin to cultivate a consciousness that makes you a true agent of change in your life.
We will work together with the parts of your life that are hardest to face – the parts that are often not welcome at the office or cause issues at home.
Whether its anxiety, depression, trauma, feeling powerless, or something else, giving these parts a time and place to be talked about can help to rejuvenate an aspect of your life that is stressed, dulled, or painful. I help you work with the circumstances of your life now and how they connect with what’s come before, in order to help you create real, lasting change.
The expertise and training that I have in couples counseling assists in the depth of work that I do with individuals. Not only have I studied how to get to the root of a person’s automatic behavior with their partner, but I also know about creating secure relationships. I can help you get ready for the kind of relationship that you want to have, or approach the one you do have in a new way.
Therapy is a creative, collaborative process. It’s a workout for the psyche, and often the hardest hour of someone’s week. Just as I dedicate myself to continually learning about psychology and human nature, I will dedicate myself to you in the hour that we share. I look forward to our work together.
